The Caucasus is a region located between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, spanning parts of Southern Russia, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. It features the Caucasus Mountains, which serve as a natural barrier between Europe and Asia. Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, is found in the Western Caucasus. The region consists of the North Caucasus and the South Caucasus, with the Greater and Lesser Caucasus mountain ranges dividing these areas. The Caucasus is noted for its linguistic diversity, home to several language families, including Indo-European, Turkic, Kartvelian, Northwest Caucasian, and Northeast Caucasian.
