Cathartidae
Cathartidae is a family of large scavenging birds known as New World vultures, including condors and turkey vultures. They are characterized by broad wings adapted for soaring, keen senses for locating carrion (especially a strong sense of smell in some species), and largely bare heads that help maintain hygiene while feeding. Members of this family are found throughout the Americas, occupying open and forested habitats.
