Phocidae

Phocidae is the family of true, or earless, seals. These marine mammals lack external ear flaps and have streamlined bodies with short, powerful flippers adapted for efficient swimming and deep diving. They are found in polar, temperate, and some tropical oceans, spending most of their lives at sea and coming ashore mainly to rest, breed, and molt.
